Who doesn’t love a good summer read?
Having an awesome book in hand is always a great way to spend a summer day, especially when you’re lounging around the pool. Reading is an absolute must during my summer break. It’s funny when I look back on assigned summer readings from my days in elementary and middle school, as I now continue these activities of my own accord. Funny how things assigned during school could seem boring or tiresome, but be so enjoyable when done at your leisure. Reading is an excellent hobby to take up, giving you a chance to productively spend free time. Sure, I love movies and TV shows as much as the next girl, but books give you a way to expand your world while painting your own picture. You expand your mind, your vocabulary and comprehension, you nurture your imaginative and creative potential, and it’s something you do on your schedule.
Even when you’re away from the poolside, I’ve always enjoyed sitting in my sun room, sipping my citrus detox water, and cracking open a good book. There’s something about summer and books that fits so perfectly together! I am currently halfway through my summer reading list, and decided I should share a selection of books from the remainder of my list. Like I mentioned, my books always follow me to the pool or beach, especially on days where I’m just lying out to catch some rays. Even on the rainy, stormy days we have here in Atlanta from time-to-time, having a good book in my hands helps me occupy the times I’m cooped up inside by awful weather.
Summer isn’t just about pools, parties, and barbecues. Sure, we all love those, but take advantage of this free time from studies to read about topics that aren’t assigned. Dive into about worlds or stories you’ve always been curious about, but were so busy you just couldn’t make time to read about them. People often hit the gym to tone up their bodies before the summer season, so think about using the summer season to tone up your mind. If you see any books that you’ve read or want to read on my list, feel free to comment with your thoughts. Summer just isn’t the same if y’all aren’t reading!
